Owner/Operator

An owner/operator is a self-employed independent contractor. This presents a very beneficial tax position. Even though all expenses related to your job are your responsibility, most of these expenses are tax deductible. Some of these expenses include fuel, repairs, insurance (class 13 business insurance for delivery vehicle), municipal parking permit, vehicle depreciation, and a portion of your rent or mortgage and phone that represents your office space at home.

An owner/operator is paid on a commission basis for every delivery that you do. Commissions at Reliable Courier range from 60% to 75% depending on the type of vehicle driven. As an independent we will arrange for you to carry your own WCB (workers compensation). Reliable Courier has no payroll hold backs.
